India, Dec. 6 -- It is believed that Motorola is working on launching a new mid-range Moto G-series device, known as the Motorola Moto G13. The brand has not revealed any details about the upcoming smartphone, however, it has been seen on the Indian BIS certification website, along with a few other certification sites. This indicates that the launch may happen quite soon. Based on the certification listings, the upcoming Motorola Moto G13 will be a 4G device.

What certifications does the Motorola Moto G13 have?

The Motorola Moto G13 was stopped by tipster Mukul Sharma, who has revealed that the smartphone has received the Indian BIS certification along with the Thai NBTC certification. The BIS listing indicates that the smartphone will soon launch in India, while the NBTC listing has been critical in confirming the device's actual name.

It is believed that the price of this smartphone will fall under Rs.15,000 as it will be a 4G handset. Being a mid-range smartphone, it may offer a decent smattering of good and 'okayish' specifications.

Motorola Moto G13 specifications (rumoured)

The Motorola Moto G13 may just offer a 90Hz AMOLED display in order to make up for the fact that it will not be 5G enabled. This smartphone might come with a Snapdragon 732G chipset or the MediaTek Helio G99 processor. The former seems more likely as Redmi is also currently gearing up to launch its new Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G which will have the same processor.

The Motorola Moto G13 may come with a 5,000 mAh battery capacity, with fast charging support (33W would be ideal). It will run on Android 13.

As of now, there is no information regarding the actual launch of the product, but with the BIS certification listing already up, it is bound to happen soon.

Killexams : Ex-Moto engineer makes plea deal in trade-secret case

A former Motorola Solutions senior engineering manager pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal trade secrets on behalf of a Chinese competitor and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors.

The plea deal is the latest twist in a shocking case of corporate espionage in which Chinese rival Hytera Communications is accused of hiring Motorola employees, who then stole thousands of internal documents that were used to develop a competing two-way radio.

The theft, which occurred in 2008, went undetected for nearly a decade. It cost Motorola $252 million in lost profits, the Justice Department claims.

Gee Siong Kok, who worked in Motorola’s design center in Penang, Malaysia, was extradited in August and pleaded guilty today to a charge of conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets. He faces a sentence of up to 10 years and will forfeit $1 million.

Motorola won a civil case of trade-secret and copyright infringement against Hytera in the U.S. district court in Chicago nearly three years ago and was awarded $765 million. The judgment later was reduced to $545 million.

"Motorola Solutions’ intellectual property theft allegations against Hytera have once again been publicly validated," Motorola said in a statement. "We are pleased that former Hytera executive Gee Siong (G.S.) Kok — recruited and hired by, and directly reporting to, Hytera’s CEO — has pled guilty to the criminal charges filed by the Department of Justice, admitting responsibility for his illegal conduct on behalf of Hytera, including criminal conspiracy to steal and use Motorola Solutions’ trade secrets and proprietary information."

Hytera and seven former Motorola employees were indicted earlier this year on criminal charges of stealing trade secrets and conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets.

According to court filings, Kok recruited other Motorola engineers to Hytera, and they stole source code and more than 11,000 documents from Motorola.

Hytera, which previously had been a distributor of Motorola products, developed its own two-way radios, according to court filings. But when two-way radios in the U.S. and Europe were required to switch from analog to digital technology in 2013, Hytera needed to catch up, and it recruited Kok, prosecutors say.

Motorola launched its digital two-way radios in 2007, and Hytera began selling digital radios in the U.S. in 2010. Kok, who joined Hytera as director of research and development, eventually became a member of its board of directors.

Hytera and other defendants could go to trial next year, but a date has not been set. If found guilty, Hytera faces a potential fine of three times the value of the stolen trade secrets, including the costs it avoided.

The date Kok pleaded guilty has been corrected in this updated story.

Killexams : Motorola announces the new Moto G Play (2023) Motorola has come out to announce its new affordable Moto G Play phone just in time for the holiday season, albeit it won't be available for purchase until January 12, 2023. The new Moto G Play will be available unlocked in the US at Best Buy, Amazon, and Motorola with a truly budget-friendly price of $169.99. It will also be sold in Canada at Motorola's website.

Well, let's start with display, which remains the same size and resolution as the previous generation of the Moto G Play, with one difference being that it now supports a 90Hz refresh rate — a nice addition indeed.

On the back side, the camera array has also received an upgrade, as the main camera is now 16MP with an aperture of f/1.22 and pixel size of 1.0µm. There are also a 2MP macro and 2MP depth cameras, making it a set of three in total. However, given the phone's price range and what we are used to seeing from Motorola with its budget handsets, it would be safe to assume that the images are not anything impressive. At best, the main camera might deliver some usable shots, but we will let you know once we get to review the phone itself.

One major good side to these affordable Motorola phones, on the other hand, have been their massive batteries. Unsurprisingly, the Moto G Play is getting a 5,000mAh-sized one inside, which should offer some great battery life. Motorola even claims it can last you up to three days on a single charge. Unfortunately, though, the charging speed is quite disappointing maxing out at 10W, which given the big size of the battery means it would take quite a bit of time to top it up.
Another downside that is frankly hard to brush off is the lack of NFC. There is no reason for a phone to not have NFC, especially in 2023. Many people use this feature daily, to pay via their phone. It makes much more sense to maybe drop the IP52 water-repellent certification, which the new Moto G Play has, and include NFC connectivity instead.

As for what actually makes the phone tick, the 2023 version of the Moto G Play comes with a MediaTek Helio G37 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card. Suffice to say, this phone won't be able to do much more than some we browsing, texting, and making calls. Some out there might also consider the lack of support for 5G connectivity a setback, but the truth is that 5G is yet to make a difference that would eclipse 4G connectivity, so not much of a loss on that front.

Probably the biggest upgrade over the predecessor is the design of the Moto G Play (2023), which is now much more modern-looking and clean. It might be a super-budget phone, but at least it looks decent and respectable, albeit still from plastic.

All's to say, the 2023 edition of the Moto G Play is shaping up as a hard phone to recommend, but we will have to wait until we get to throw it through its paces and see if it is any good in real life. Stay tuned for our upcoming review if you are interested in buying one for yourself.

Motorola Moto G13 gets BIS certification

Spotted by tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings), the Motorola Moto G13 (with the model number Motorola XT2231-3) has recently received the Thai NBTC certification and the Indian BIS certification. The NBTC certification confirms the moniker of the device, while the BIS listing suggests that Motorola might soon launch the Motorola Moto G13 in India. The Motorola Moto G13 will be a 4G handset, so we can expect the device to be priced less than Rs 15,000 in India, unless Motorola pulls off something extra-ordinary with the specifications and features of the device, the odds of which, are a bit unlikely.

Motorola Moto G13 specifications (expected)

Given that the Motorola Moto G13 will be a 4G device, we can expect the device to feature at least a 90Hz AMOLED display to compensate for the lack of 5G. Plus, the device could be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, or it could be equipped with the Snapdragon 732G chipset, which would make complete sense, given that Redmi is also reportedly in the works to launch its Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G with the same processor.

Coming to the battery of the device, we can expect the Motorola Moto G13 to feature a 5,000mAh battery with support for (at least) 33W fast charging over a USB Type-C charging port. Lastly, the device will most likely boot Android 13 out of the box.

Motorola Moto G13 launch timeline (expected)

We can expect Motorola to take the wraps off the Motorola Moto G13 sometime in Q1, 2023. In all likelihood, the device will launch in India in January 2023.

Killexams : Motorola Moto X40 listing confirms Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC Motorola M logo DG AH 2020 © Provided by Android Headlines Motorola M logo DG AH 2020

The latest Motorola Moto X40 listing has confirmed that the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The device appeared on Geekbench, and in addition to its SoC, some other details have been shared.

Do note that the Moto X40 will become official on December 15 in China. That device will likely be called the Motorola Edge 40 Pro outside of China. Yes, it will be coming to a number of additional markets, almost certainly.

The Motorola Moto X40 Geekbench listing confirms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC & more

In any case, Geekbench reported that the device will include 12GB of RAM. Well, at least one of its models will. Android 13 is also mentioned in the listing, which is to be expected, as it’s the latest version Google offers.

The Moto X40 appeared under the XT2301-5 model number on Geekbench. It managed to score 1,471 points in the single-core, and 4,683 points in the multi-core test on the platform.

That’s basically all the details that Geekbench shared. The Moto X40 will become the company’s new flagship smartphone. Its design has been revealed by TENAA, and via several leaks.

It will not really surprise anyone when the design is concerned. You can expect a glass + metal combo, and exactly what you’d expect out of flagship phones these days. A curved display will be included, with thin bezels, and a display camera hole. A regular-looking rear camera island will also be a part of the package.

A high refresh rate display is expected, and the same goes for 125W charging

The phone is tipped to include a 6.67-inch fullHD+ OLED display with either a 144Hz or 165Hz refresh rate. Depending on which rumor you end up believing. A 5,000mAh battery was also mentioned in earlier leaks, as was 125W charging.

We’re not sure when will this smartphone become available globally, it won’t launch outside of China until Q1 2023, that’s for sure.

Killexams : Motorola Moto X40 launch date announced, to take on Xiaomi 13, iQOO 11

Motorola has announced its next flagship phone, the Moto X40 will arrive on December 15. The launch would take place during an online-only event for China. The biggest highlight of the Moto X40 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which makes it a rival to the Vivo X90 Pro, iQOO 11, and the upcoming Xiaomi 13. And even though this is a launch in China, Motorola is expected to bring the phone to India sometime next year. Also Read - Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is now available at a discount of Rs 5,000 on Flipkart

Ahead of the launch, Motorola has shared some key specifications of the Moto X40. The company has hinted that the phone would run the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which makes sense since the predecessor Moto X30 uses Qualcomm’s last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. In the poster the brand posted on Weibo, the phone seems not to include a punch-hole or a waterdrop design, which means there could be in-display camera technology available. Also Read - Motorola confirms Moto X40, its next flagship, is coming soon

Motorola has not shared much, but the upcoming phone seemingly appeared on AnTuTu benchmarking website with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Additionally, a Motorola phone with model number XT2301-5 showed up on China’s TENAA certification website and it is believed to belong to the Moto X40. If the speculation holds any water, the Moto X40 would come with a 6.67-inch FullHD+ display with curved edges and an in-display fingerprint sensor, RAM options of 8GB, 12GB, and 18GB, and storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Also Read - Moto E22s goes on sale in India today: Check price, offers, and specs

The listing on TENAA further revealed the Moto X40 would come with three cameras on the back. Two of them would use 50-megapixel sensors, of course, with different lenses, while one would be a 12-megapixel camera. The phone may come with a 4950mAh battery, but there is another variant listed with a 4450mAh rated cell capacity. That is all we currently know about the upcoming Moto X40, but rumours are rife that Motorola may have another phone in tow.

According to some leaked renders, Motorola may also launch the Moto X40 Pro, the successor to the Moto X30 Pro and a higher-specced version of the Moto X40. However, it is unclear whether Motorola would launch the Moto X40 Pro on December 15 alongside the Moto X40.

Killexams : Motorola X40 Pro renders show triple cameras, punch-hole cutout and more ahead of impending launch

The images show the Motorola X40 Pro aka the Edge 40 Pro design looks familiar to the predecessor aka the Edge 30 Pro except for the rear camera module. There is the iconic Moto dimple in the middle.

Moto X40 Pro design renders

The Motorola X40 Pro has a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper and slightly curved edges. The bezels on all corners are pretty narrow so you can have an immersive media consumption or gaming experience. The volume rocker and power button are on the right edge. The top portion houses the speaker grill, while the bottom edge has a USB Type-C port, speaker grill, primary microphone, and SIM tray section.

Moving to the back, there is a square-shaped module that houses triple cameras and an LED flash. One can see the Moto dimple and ‘Motorola branding on the back. The report says the phone will measure 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.6mm (10.8mm thick with the camera module). Though the Motorola Edge 30 Pro came with a plastic frame, the Motorola X40 Pro could get a metal chassis.

Since there is no fingerprint sensor cutout on the side or the rear, it could be placed within the screen. The handset can be seen in Black colour but there could be other options at launch.

Motorola X40 Pro specifications (expected)

The Motorola X40 Pro is expected to sport a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper. The handset is likely to boot Android 13 OS out of the box and pack a 5000mAh battery with 68W fast charging support but the global version might come with 125W fast charging.

As for the cameras, the Motorola X40 Pro will have a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a new 12MP telephoto lens. The handset is expected to have a 60MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The Edge 40 Pro is tipped to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage that might not be expandable.

The Motorola X40 Pro is expected to have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Killexams : Moto X40 likely to launch at Motorola's December 15 event Moto X40 likely to launch at Motorola's December 15 event © Provided by India Today Moto X40 likely to launch at Motorola's December 15 event

Motorola is all set to host an event on December 15. The company hasn't yet revealed the name of the products that it will announce at the event, but the teasers have revealed that we will witness two phone launches. One of them is said to be the Moto X40, which has been in the rumour mill for a long time now.

So far, the company hasn't hinted anything about the Moto X40, but the device has already been spotted on several online platforms like TENNA and Geekbench. The listings have revealed most of the details about the Moto X40. It is said to come with Qualcomm's new and top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which we will see powering many flagship phones in 2023. The company might launch the device with up to 18GB RAM and 512GB storage option.

The Moto X40 could come with a typical 6.67-inch display to offer users a big screen for content consumption. It will likely be a curved panel, which is something that the teasers suggest. The panel will likely operate at Full HD+ resolution. It will offer a punch-hole display design with close to zero bezels, which is something that the teasers show. It could come with an in-display fingerprint sensor because this is something that one would expect in the premium price range.

There is no clarity on features like IP rating for some protection against water in the rainy season or otherwise. We do expect it to come with stereo speakers for a better binge-watching experience. The details about support for HDR 10+, DC Dimming, fast charging, and more are still under wraps. The leaks claim that the Moto X40 could pack a 4,450mAh battery. A few reports claim that the company would provide support for a 68W fast charge.

At the back, we may get to see a triple rear camera setup, including two 50-megapixel sensors and a 12-megapixel tertiary camera. On the front, we might see a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies. The details about which sensor Motorola Moto X40 might be using is unknown.  We will get more clarity and details on most of the things on December 15.

Motorola is also expected to bring the Moto X40 to the global market, but as Moto Edge 40 series. As of now, there is no information when the new smartphone could arrive in Indian market and other regions. To recall, its predecessor Moto Edge 30 arrived in India in May this year. It now remains to be seen whether the Moto Edge 40 will launch in India a little early in 2023 or around the same time when Edge 30 smartphone was announced.
